All the solid and liquid wastes from human activities, agricultural and animal husbandry practice is being drained in to the sea without any treatment and is responsible for the source of contamination. About 75% of the seawater pollution is from these sources through sewage. The epidemiological studies revealed the possible presence of pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasitic and fungal infections are from the sewage discharge. Seafood-borne illnesses (food poising and intoxications) are from the consumption of contaminated seafoods either via sewage, infected seafood handlers, unhygienic processing practices and or improper storage etc. The consumption of contaminated seafood is significantly associated with the seafood borne illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pains, fever, cholera, viral hepatitis, enteritis and some time death.
