Indonesian Abstract: Kepercayaan terhadap institusi publik merupakan hal penting dalam relasi kehidupan masyarakat dan bernegara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan antara general trust dengan kepercayaan terhadap institusi publik, dan perbandingan kepercayaan mahasiswa terhadap institusi publik. Penelitian merupakan penelitian survey dengan jumlah partisipan 219 mahasiswa UIN Suska Riau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan positif dan signifikan general trust dengan kepercayaan terhadap institusi publik, artinya individu yang memiliki tingkat general trust tinggi cenderung memiliki kepercayaan tinggi terhadap institusi publik. Sementara Institusi pendidikan (universitas) memiliki tingkat kepercayaan tertinggi dibandingan institusi publik lainnya, diikuti institusi ABRI dan Perusahaan Indonesia. Sementara tiga terbawah terdapat pada Polisi, DPR dan partai politik. Implikasi penelitian pada relasi sosial dibahas dalam artikel ini.English Abstract: Trust in public institutions is essential in the life of society and state relations. This study aims to determine how the relationship between general trust and trust in public institutions. The study is a survey with 219 participants number of students at State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif kasim Riau Indonesia. The results showed there is significant correlation between general trust and Trust in public institutions, the meaning that individuals who have a high level of general trust tend to have high trust in public institutions. While educational institutions (universities) have the highest trusting level compared to other public institutions, followed by the Company Indonesian, and Armed Forces. While the lowest ranked are the police, parliament and political parties. Implications of research on social relationships discussed in this article.
