This article attempts to analyze the Copyright Act of 1976 and the 1979 CONTU guidelines produced by the National Commission on New Technological Uses of Copyrighted Works (“CONTU”) in order to properly apply them to the law library's lending practice. Interlibrary loan covered by this article is defined as loan requests for books and articles between two qualified libraries. Interlibrary loan here does not apply to music, pictures, graphics, sculptures, motion pictures or other audiovisual works.
