What is Tasawwuf?

What is Tasawwuf?

Abstract

This paper is to introduce the Tasawwuf in the light of the Holy Qur'an and the tasawwuf that I have understood is that a person should become like of those concerning whom the Qur’anic verse is: Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall They grieve; those who believe and (constantly) guard against evil. [10: 62 and 63]The next question is whose friend Allah is? The Holy Qur’an clearly states: Allah is the Protector of those who have faith: from the depths of darkness He will lead them forth into light. Of those who reject Faith the patrons are the evil ones: from light they will lead them forth into the depths of darkness. They will be companions of the fire, to dwell therein (for ever). [2:257]At another place the Holy Qur’an says: Without doubt, among men, the nearest of kin to Abraham, are those who follow him, As are also This Messenger and those who believe: and Allah is the Protector of those who have Faith. [3:68]
