The President has power to pardon the criminals who are convicted by the Supreme Court under Article 72 of the Constitution. But the President is unable to exercise his discretionary power without the advice of Council of Ministers. The involvement of politicians does not keep the power unfettered. Also that the importance of President is undermined.
