Black Theater: A Sapling Transformed into Huge Tree

Abstract

From the times of servitude till date African Americans aspire to pave way through the road of repression and suppression. As they were uprooted this transplant never took place. As a result of which their grief and sorrows ,despair and agonies had to be given vent to in a very extraordinary way to stand in a hostile culture. As compared with other genres of literature, drama is the most powerful and lively audio-visual recreation of life itself which in witness of audience becomes collective effort to set common thread. And audience become one with characters, their grief, joy becomes common experience of all. Black Theater is nothing but the strong reaction against White dominant culture but with theatrical technicalities.
