This article investigates the international legal status of humankind. It briefly describes what is humankind and tries to give an explanation of the bond between a human-being and humankind. The article compares this bond with another important relationship of a person to the state - citizenship. The article provides arguments for the necessity of establishing an authority of humankind and future recognition of humankind as an above-national subject of law.
