
ABSTRACTTeachers of agronomy are, for the most part, interested in the establishment of criteria as to minimum training and intellectual skills for professional qualifications. They should follow closely the discussions of certification, eligibility, and licensure, which are most certainly on the horizon. The experiences of other groups, such as the American Chemical Society, might also point to possible evolutionary paths. This article outlines some of the considerations of professionalism within the ASA and reports on other experience.
