Abstract

Ein Überblick über die Prozesse, die stigmatisierenden und destigmatisierenden Medieneffekten zugrunde liegen: Besonderer Fokus liegt dabei auf den Potenzialen zur Destigmatisierung von Menschen mit gesundheitlichen Einschränkungen oder Behinderungen. Dafür wird anhand ausgewählter Befunde aus der Forschung zu Filmen und Serien sowie dem sogenannten Health Blogging vorgestellt und diskutiert, welche Formen medialer (Selbst-)Darstellung Stigmatisierung abbauen sowie Empowerment und Selbstbestimmung fördern können.
