Abstract : The main goal of this project was to study and develop wavelet-based image and video compression algorithms, with focuses on algorithmic performance, image quality, and bandwidth optimization. This was accomplished by applying advanced statistical modeling to develop efficient image/video compression, incorporating task-oriented performance criteria for algorithmic optimization, and implementing wavelet-based video coding algorithms. This report is a summary of the work performed under this grant.
