Abstract : Ametek/Offshore Research & Engineering Division (ORED) performed a conceptual design study of potential state-of-the-art robotic firefighting systems. To demonstrate the feasibility of major critical components, an Air Force P-4 Firetruck was provided and fitted with systems to allow remote operation. The converted vehicle was transported to Vandenberg Air Force base and a live fire test was performed at the fire training pit. The P-4 vehicle was returned to the original condition and to the Air Force, after the test exercises were completed.
