Abstract : This report examines the problems associated with the display of active (10.6 micron) infrared radar images. Issues addressed include degradations introduced by the imaging sensor, the effects of these degradations on image tracking and image enhancement, and evaluation of various tracking and enhancement techniques in view of their usefulness and potential hardware implementation. The performance of each algorithm is demonstrated using either simulated data or data collected by the Infrared Airborne Radar (IRAR) testbed system. (Author)
