Abstract The objective of this paper is to quantify and explain the value added by digitalizing the shift handover system at ADNOC Distribution (ADD) facilities, focusing on operational integrity, safety, and efficiency in line with ADNOC Group's vision of 100% HSE and Digital Future. Manual (paper/excel‑based) shift handovers are prone to errors and inefficiency. A gap assessment identified lack of standardization, poor readability, and missing critical information in more than 50% of records. ADD transformed its shift handover to a standardized digital logbook (‘E‑Log’) aligned with ADNOC Group's Operating Integrity Management Standard. The digital logbook improved continuity between shifts, reduced communication failures, minimized documentation errors, and enabled real‑time visibility and analytics. Post‑implementation, time spent on handovers reduced by ~50%, mandatory‑field compliance exceeded 95%, reporting of HSE incidents/near misses increased by ~45%, and reporting of HSECES equipment status increased by ~26%. The paper provides an implementation blueprint (information model, workflows, governance, and change management), practical indicator mappings to API RP 754, and a ROI framework that other oil and gas operations can strengthen process safety and operational integrity.
