La relación entre movilidad poblacional internacional y salud ha sido eje histórico para formular explicaciones y respuestas sobre la diseminación y control global de los problemas de salud, en su mayoría infecciosos. En 2019, la pandemia por Covid-19 no fue la excepción. El cierre de fronteras y el confinamiento poblacional fueron, nuevamente, las medidas emblemáticas de salud pública aplicadas en los siglos previos para responder a otros problemas epidémicos,1 esto a pesar de la evidencia científica contemporánea2 sobre la prevención de la transmisión de infecciones y sobre la velocidad y magnitud de la movilidad poblacional global que, solo por vía aérea, en 2019 alcanzó más de 4 500 millones de personas.
