Efectos de la electroacupuntura sobre frecuencia respiratoria y saturación de oxígeno en perros anestesiados con propofol

Abstract

El uso de la Anestesia en veterinaria ha ido en aumento y las técnicas han ido evolucionando con el pasar de los años, sin embargo la mayoría de procedimientos anestésicos tienen posibles efectos adversos, entre los cuales destacan la aparición de apnea y efectos deletéreos sobre parámetros respiratorios. En el presente estudio se utilizaron quince canes en un estudio autocontrolado con el objetivo de observar y analizar los efectos de la electroacupuntura (EA) sobre parámetros respiratorios en perros anestesiados con propofol. Se realizaron dos tratamientos, comparativos entre sí. En el primer tratamiento se realizó un procedimiento de inducción con propofol 5mg.Kg-1 IV en bolus simple. El segundo tratamiento se realizó dos semanas después del primero, repitiendo el procedimiento de inducción con una estimulación con EA en los acupuntos IG4 y V13, 5 minutos antes de la inducción y durante esta. Cuando los animales estuvieron inducidos, se procedió con el monitoreo correspondiente. No hubo diferencias estadísticas significativas entre ambos protocolos para la frecuencia respiratoria. Sin embargo, se obtuvo una diferencia estadística para la saturación de oxígeno (SaO2) entre el protocolo con EA y sin ella en los momentos más críticos, que son la inducción y la recuperación, logrando así una SaO2 mayor con el uso de EA en anestesia con propofol en perros.
