Resistencia a antimicrobianos: Causas

Abstract

La resistencia a antimicrobianos es un problema creciente a nivel mundial, con previsiones que hablan de hasta 10 millones de muertes por su causa en el año 2050. Este problema se ve agravado por la escasez de nuevos antimicrobianos, que de manera mayoritaria son miembros de familias ya establecidas, y por tanto frente a los que ya existen mecanismos de resistencia. El desarrollo o selección de resistencia a antimicrobianos, aunque directamente asociado al nivel de uso de los mismos, no es un fenómeno unidimensional. En esta revisión se repasan algunas de las principales causas subyacentes tras este problema.
