Abstract

EnglishThis paper shows the results obtained from a novel index that measures employment vulnerability. The indicator is used to determine which are the occupations and workers facing greater risk, arising from the fact that they carry out tasks that are easier to replace –by means of technological change as well as developments in international trade-. In addition, the results are interpreted from a gender standpoint to evaluate whether it is men or women who, to a greater extent, develop their activity in occupations considered as vulnerable. The index is useful to make forecasts about the dynamics of the labor market and illustrate possible changes in the near future, which helps improving and optimizing the design of many labor market policies.
