Instagram Content Analysis of the @arema_bluearmy Account in Easing Rivalry Between Arema and Persebaya Supporters

Abstract

Supporter fanaticism in the rivalry between Arema FC and Persebaya often triggers conflict and violence, which has led to the role of fanbase accounts as a communication tool to ease the rivalry. This study aims to analyze how the account @arema_bluearmy frames messages to reduce the rivalry between Arema and Persebaya supporters, as well as to identify audience responses to the content posted. This study uses Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model, which includes problem definition, cause diagnosis, moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. The results show that the account @arema_bluearmy consistently frames the rivalry as an issue of supporter attitudes and behavior, rather than inter-club conflict, emphasizing the values of sportsmanship, humanity, and maturity. Audience responses in the comments section are dominated by support, although provocative comments still appear, indicating that peace-oriented message framing is quite effective in fostering healthy rivalry discourse.
