Analysis of Production Quality Improvement through the Integration of Six Sigma and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) at CV XYZ

Abstract

CV XYZ is a company engaged in the production of factory machine descaling products and is still experiencing product defect rates that exceed the company’s quality standard of 5% per month. Based on production data from October to December 2025, the average defect rate reached 7.20%, with leaking jerry cans identified as the highest defect type at 37%. This study analyzes product defect levels and identifies waste in the production process by integrating the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC approach and Value Stream Mapping (VSM). The results show that the DPMO value ranges from 22,754 to 24,867 with a sigma level between 3.46 and 3.50, indicating that the production process is still at an average industry level and requires improvement. VSM analysis reveals that value-added activities account for 56% of the total process time, while non-value-added and necessary non-value-added activities remain relatively high.
