Moluscos dulceacuícolas de Colombia

Abstract

En el marco del Programa Operativo Anual (2018) del Instituto de Investigacion de Recursos Biologicos Alexander von Humboldt, Linea de recursos hidrobiologicos, pesqueros continentales y fauna silvestre (Programa Ciencias de la Biodiversidad), se presentan los resultados de un trabajo de investigacion acerca de los moluscos de agua dulce de Colombia en el territorio continental e insular. Se reconocen 72 especies de moluscos dulceacuicolas que corresponden a 42 especies de caracoles (gasteropodos) y 30 especies de bivalvos (almejas, mejillones y ostras), incluyendo 7 especies endemicas. Los gasteropodos estan agrupados en 7 familias y 21 generos, y los bivalvos en 6 familias y 16 generos. Las familias mas diversas entre los caracoles fueron Ampullariidae y Planorbidae con 14 y 13 especies cada una. Entre los bivalvos destacan las familias Mycetopodidae e Hyriidae, con 13 y 8 especies, respectivamente. De estos, hay 8 especies que pueden habitar en aguas salobres (3 gasteropodos y 5 bivalvos). Hay 9 especies introducidas en aguas dulces y salobres en Colombia, 8 de origen exotico y una trasplantada de la vertiente del Pacifico al Caribe. Al menos 7 especies de caracoles son vectores de enfermedades tropicales para el ser humano, ganado y animales domesticos. Varias especies de caracoles y bivalvos son de importancia para el consumo de subsistencia y tienen potencial para la acuicultura. A nivel hidrografico las cuencas con la mayor riqueza de especies fueron Magdalena-Cauca (47 sp.), seguida de Caribe (32 sp.), Orinoco (30 sp.), Amazonas (17 sp.) y por ultimo Pacifico (5 sp.). A nivel departamental, destacan tres departamentos con 15 o mas especies: Cordoba y Cesar (20 sp. cada una) y Antioquia (15 sp.). No hay registros para Quindio, Risaralda y Vaupes. A nivel altitudinal, la mayor diversidad se observo por debajo de los 1.000 m s.n.m. y se mantiene el patron de distribucion por familias y franjas propuesto previamente, con algunos pequenos ajustes en este trabajo. El libro esta estructurado a manera de guia, con claves taxonomicas a nivel de familia y fichas de especies que incluyen informacion descriptiva para su identificacion, distribucion geografica, aspectos bioecologicos, uso, importancia y conservacion.
