ESTUDO DA REDUÇÃO DE ARRASTO INDUZIDO POR POLÍMEROS EM ESCOAMENTOS INTERNOS TURBULENTOS EM DUTOS

Abstract

Escoamentos turbulentos e laminares sao encontrados, frequentemente, em diversas aplicacoes de engenharia, como em compressores e bombas e ao redor de carros, avioes e navios. O atrito superficial, grande responsavel pelas perdas energeticas, e consideravelmente maiores no tipo de escoamento turbulento do que em escoamentos laminares. Seu estudo e bastante desafiador, devido a sua natureza complexa. A principal justificativa para este estudo baseia-se na otimizacao dos recursos energeticos, por motivos economicos principalmente, atraves do estudo da reducao de arrasto induzido por polimeros. Neste trabalho, e estudada a reducao de arrasto por inducao de polimeros a partir da utilizacao de uma bancada experimental situada no laboratorio de mecânica dos fluidos da UFRN. A bancada experimental foi construida e calibrada exclusivamente para este trabalho. Foram utilizados como aditivos polimericos o Polietileno glicol 4000, o Polyox WSR N60K, Polyox WSR 301 e o Polyox WSR 205. A reducao de arrasto induzida por polimeros e investigada a partir da analise de um escoamento, tal analise parte do principio da medicao de pressao em dois pontos do escoamento e culmina no calculo da perda de carga e do fator de atrito, o que possibilita analisar a influencia da adicao de polimeros na reducao do arrasto em escoamentos sejam eles laminares ou turbulentos. Nao foi observado reducao de arrasto no polietileno glicol 4000 na concentracao analisada. O Polyox WSR N60K, o Polyox WSR 301 e o Polyox WSR 205 apresentaram reducao de arrasto com destaque para o Polyox WSR 301 que apresentou maior reducao dentre dos polimeros estudados, o que conclui-se que o Polyox WSR 301 e mais eficiente para promover a reducao de arrasto em tubos rigidos.
