There is no rational planning of tourism development taking into account environmental requirements without appropriate identification, registration and evaluation of tourist attractions and overall tourism-related conditions. The basic precondition for realization of the set goals and objectives is such a strategy of development that involves local, regional and national levels. In the light of the foregoing, this paper highlights the necessity for: - establishing the criteria that will serve as basis for the definition of a particular tourist destination, and - determining a feasible development strategy for tourist destinations as a prerequisite for the materialization of the objectives set at the national level.
