Abstract

Peygamberlerin sonuncusu ve mührü olan; Allah’ın yeryüzündeki dinini tebliğiyle tamamlayan Hz. Muhammed’in sûretine ve bununla birlikte sîretine dair vasıfların bildirildiği hilyeler hem kalb-i selîmin hem de zevk-i selîmin konusu olmuşlar, yüzlerce yıl manzum-mensur şekilde edebiyatımızı süslemişlerdir. Böylece Müslümanlar yüzlerce yıl O’nu resmetme ihtiyacı bile duymadan bu hilyelerle âdeta terbiye edilmişlerdir. Hilyeler yazılırken Hz. Peygamber’in sûretine ve sîretine dair hadis rivâyetleri esas alınmıştır. Bu rivâyetlerdeki kelimeler o dönemin Arapçasında bile fazla kullanılmayan kelimeler oldukları içindir ki şerhe ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Yapılan bu şerhlere Osmanlı Türkçesi ile yapılan şerhler ise Türk-İslâm edebiyatında hilye-i şerîfeler olarak bir edebî türe dönüşmüşlerdir. Bugüne kadar hilyelerle ilgili olarak yapılan çalışmalarda daha çok manzum hilyeler üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu çalışmada ise mensur hilye örneklerinden hattat, devlet adamı Vahdî İbrâhîm’e (ö. 1126/1714) ait olan ve tespit edebildiğimiz dört nüshalı Terceme-i Hilye-i Şerîfe şerhi çeviri yazı ile birlikte verilmiştir.
