Deslocamentos na cidade sitiada

Abstract

Escrito em Berna, Suíça, o romance A cidade sitia-da (1949) de Clarice Lispector comenta e dá sentido a certos aspectos da modernização brasileira. Sua narrativa entrelaça a passagem tortuosa e ambígua de S. Geraldo de subúrbio à metrópole com as mudanças na vida da protagonista, Lucrécia Neves, e na dos homens com quem se relaciona: Felipe, Perseu, Mateus Correia e Lucas. Ao focar nesse entrelaçamento, a autora reflete e encena a formação de uma nova ordem social e os conflitos de gênero dela decorrentes. Conflitos estes que aproximam Lucrécia Neves de outras personagens e da vivência da própria autora, iluminando transformações nos modos de estar na cidade e nos ideais de domesticidade entre os anos 1940 e 1960.
