Abstract

O artigo discute algumas experiências relacionadas à criação, apropriação e circulação de imagens e imaginários sobre o Brasil, a partir do colecionismo de antigas e novas brasilianas. Compreende-se a chamada ‘coleção brasiliana’ como um acervo pluridimensional sobre determinado lugar físico e social atravessado pelo tempo histórico, isto é, como uma coleção formada pela dinâmica dos processos de criação, preservação e difusão de bens culturais, materiais e imateriais, relacionados ao Brasil e aos brasileiros, no passado e no presente. Neste sentido, a patrimonialização de coleções identitárias e o alargamento da noção de brasiliana são analisados a partir da perspectiva teórico-metodológica oferecida pelas reflexões sobre memória, história e esquecimento de Paul Ricouer (1913-2005). Argumentamos que a natureza intrínseca de uma coleção do gênero contempla diversos suportes documentais, modos de colecionar e formas de interação entre os atores sociais envolvidos na escolha e promoção desses bens. Com esta perspectiva, apontamos a mudança provocada pelos meios digitais e sua ampla circulação através da internet para a visualidade, a difusão e a apropriação das brasilianas, a exemplo do que ocorreu com coleções similares (‘americana’, ‘canadiana’, ‘australiana’, etc.). Destacamos, nesse processo, o questionamento das “identidades nacionais” e os “trabalhos da memória” explorados por artistas e curadores contemporâneos.
