Abstract

Introdução: O desenvolvimento humano consiste num processo contínuo, extremamente complexo com repetidos ciclos de crescimento, modulação e modificação. Apesar da intrincada complexidade, o normal desenvolvimento caracteriza-se por uma impressionante regularidade. Regularidade essa que se traduz em múltiplas vertentes, designadamente, cronológica, anatómica, topográfica e fisiológica. Por vezes, este desenvolvimento não se encontra totalmente finalizado por altura do parto, documentando-se adicionais alterações até à adopção da estrutura definitiva do adulto. O sistema venoso cerebral é um caso paradigmático. Objectivo: Com base nesta premissa, os autores pretendem apresentar uma sinopse da organogénese específica do sistema venoso cerebral de modo a permitir uma correcta interpretação das estruturas vasculares, suas variantes anatómicas e melhor compreensão das relações topográficas e patológicas entre estruturas vizinhas. Método e Resultados: Seguindo uma ordem esquemática e sintética serão apresentadas as linhas matrizes das principais etapas de formação das veias cerebrais do embrião à estrutura definitiva no adulto. Conclusão: O estudo detalhado e pormenorizado dos diferentes estadios de desenvolvimento constitui um suplemento fundamental para o íntegro reconhecimento das estruturas anatómicas, correcta interpretação das variantes anatómicas e melhor compreensão das relações topográficas entre estruturas vizinhas.
