Anatomia e Variantes do Sistema Venoso Cerebral - Defeito ou Feitio?

Abstract

A anatomia do sistema venoso intracraniano assenta numa estrutura tridimensional complexa e reconhecidamente variável. Para correcta identificação de todos os seus constituintes é essencial conhecer em detalhe os respectivos fundamentos anatómicos e designadas variantes. No entanto, estas alterações estruturais, classicamente denominadas por variantes anatómicas podem surgir, não só em casos assintomáticos, como também em determinadas condições patológicas. Caso em que poderão haver consequentes implicações diagnósticas e terapêuticas. Objectivo: Partindo deste pressuposto, os autores pretendem apresentar uma súmula da anatomia do sistema venoso cerebral e suas eventuais alterações estruturais frisando a sua etiologia simplesmente constitucional ou potencialmente patológica. Método e Resultados: Com base em casos práticos e seguindo uma ordem esquemática e sintética serão apresentadas as alterações anatómicas mais frequentes e discutida a sua etiologia constitucional ou eventualmente patológica. Conclusão: A anatomia venosa intracraniana é caracterizada pela sua ampla variedade de apresentação. Estas alterações são classicamente definidas como variantes anatómicas. No entanto, estas variações podem surgir associadas a determinadas situações patológicas. Apenas um profundo conhecimento das estruturas anatómicas permite caracterizar a etiologia destas diferenças como constitucional ou patológica.
