Valorisation énergétique des sous-produits de scieries

Abstract

La valorisation des sous-produits et produits connexes de scieries est une pratique encore trop peu développée en milieu tropical et tout particulièrement en Afrique. Cependant, le potentiel énergétique de ces sous-produits est considérable et les enjeux économiques et environnementaux qui sont attachés à leur utilisation dépassent assez largement le seul niveau de l’entreprise. C’est pourquoi, après avoir présenté l’origine et la quantité de sous-produits générés en scieries, puis dressé un inventaire rapide des solutions techniques qui permettront leur valorisation énergétique pour la production d’électricité et de chaleur, le présent article s’attache à rappeler les enjeux économiques de cette valorisation pour les entreprises et les pays hôtes. Les pays forestiers pourraient, en effet, satisfaire une part significative de leurs besoins d’électrification décentralisée si une telle option était systématisée.
