Efecto del almacenamiento sobre la calidad fisiológica de semillas de Prosopis laevigata (H. & B.) Johnst

Abstract

Se evaluó la germinación y el vigor de las semillas de mezquite (Prosopis laevigata) en función de las condiciones de almacenamiento. Se utilizaron semillas almacenadas durante 10 años, mantenidas en frascos de vidrio a temperatura ambiente. A través de pruebas de envejecimiento acelerado se determinó el vigor, mediante soluciones saturadas de sal, cloruro de potasio (KCl), cloruro de litio (LiCl) y bromuro de potasio (KBr); y tiempos de almacenamiento (6, 12 y 24 h). Los resultados indican que las semillas tratadas con LiCl tienen valores superiores en porcentaje de geminación (60%) e índice de velocidad de germinación (0.83) comparado con las otras sales y el testigo. No obstante, tener en cuenta los factores que intervienen en la germinación de la semilla, ya que el vigor es afectado por las condiciones de almacenamiento y el vigor cambia conforme transcurre el tiempo.
