Kadar Glukosa Darah Sapi Bali Pada Periode Periparturien

Abstract

Glukosa merupakan salah satu substrat metabolisme yang utama dibutuhkan sapi betina selama periode periparturien. Pada periode ini glukosa darah dibutuhkan dalam jumlah banyak untuk pematangan fetus, pembentukan energi persiapan kelahiran, serta produksi laktosa dan lemak susu saat laktasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar glukosa darah sapi bali betina selama periode periparturien. Sebanyak 12 ekor sapi bali bunting digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian. Setiap sapi sampel diukur kadar glukosa darahnya sebanyak tiga kali yaitu pada tiga minggu prepartus, pada hari partus, dan tiga minggu postpartus. Hasil penelitian didapatkan rerata kadar glukosa darah sapi bali betina yaitu pada tiga minggu prepartus sebesar 65,41±5,61 mg/dL, pada hari partus sebesar 46,50±3,22 mg/dL dan tiga minggu postpartus sebesar 55,07±5,81 mg/dL. Analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa kadar glukosa darah sapi bali betina berbeda sangat nyata pada saat prepartus dengan partus, serta berbeda nyata pada prepartus dengan postpartus. Pada saat partus berbeda nyata dengan saat postpartus. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi perubahan kadar glokusa darah selama periode periparturien, dimana kadar normal pada tiga minggu prepartus mengalami penurunan pada saat partus dan mengalami kenaikan kembali pada tiga minggu postpartus.
