Abstract

Em 2013, um incêndio em Picões (Trás-os-Montes, Portugal) destruiu mais de 2,57 km² de florestas de sobreiro (Quercus suber L.). A regeneração dessa espécie tornou-se um desafio devido à topografia (com declives superiores a 25%) e ao estado de degradação do solo, caracterizado pela erosão acelerada e pela perda de matéria orgânica. Para enfrentar esse desafio, o Projeto ForestWaterUp visa reflorestar 0,32 km² das encostas do reservatório dos Lagos do Sabor, com foco na recuperação de espécies mediterrâneas. Neste contexto, foi realizada uma experiência em estufa com 600 sementes de sobreiro provenientes da região de Picões, avaliando vários substratos com diferentes propriedades químicas e físicas. Os testes foram conduzidos em condições controladas de humidade e temperatura entre 12 e 29 ºC. Os tratamentos incluíram um substrato comercial, um composto de bagaço de azeitona e areia, sendo esta última testada em condições com e sem rega. Os resultados preliminares mostraram a maior taxa de germinação no substrato comercial, enquanto que o composto de bagaço de azeitona demonstrou sintomas de estresse hídrico.
