Abstract

La ausencia de personas afrodescendientes en el cine ha ido evolucionando con el tiempo, pasando de ser inicialmente excluidas, a una mayor presencia en la actualidad. Sin embargo, eso genera debates en torno al modo de representación de estas comunidades. En ese contexto, la intención de la presente investigación es analizar cómo perciben los jóvenes limeños la inclusión social en la versión live action de La sirenita. Para efectos de obtener información, se realizaron dos focus group, con personas que se autoidentifican como afrodescendientes y personas que no. Esto se hizo con la finalidad de establecer si esta nueva versión de tan aclamado filme va de la mano con el concepto de inclusión social. La conclusión a la que se llegó tras esta investigación es que, independientemente de su identificación, los jóvenes limeños perciben que la inclusión de una persona afrodescendiente en el papel de Ariel fue correcta y creíble, pero a la vez se generaron dudas acerca de esta decisión.
