Abstract—A perturbation theory is presented for deflection angles larger than 45°. Several parameters that previously had to be treated perturbatively are handled exactly. The theory can be used for a systematic study of front‐of‐screen errors in slim CRTs. First‐order results are presented and applied to a field configuration with a strongly varying dipole strength.
