PESCA INCIDENTAL DE RAJIFORMES NOS ARRASTOS DE PRAIA EM CAIÇARA DO NORTE, RN

Abstract

Caiçara do Norte situa-se a oeste do Cabo do Calcanhar (05º04’S e 036º03’ W), estando entre os cinco maiores produtores de pescado do estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Esta área é considerada berçário para 12 espécies de elasmobrânquios costeiros. A pesca é de grande importância econômica para a região e, embora seja artesanal, pode causar impacto negativo às populações. Entre o período de janeiro de 2008 a julho de 2009 foram realizadas amostragens dos desembarques de arrasto de praia. Os arrastos (total de 128) foram realizados entre as coordenadas 05°03’32”S/036º02’40”W e 05º03’54”S/036º03’56”W. Durante o período foram registrados 1199 raias de seis espécies: Rhinobatos percellens; Gymnura micrura; Narcine bancroftii; Aetobatus narinari; Rhinoptera bonasus e Dasyatis guttata. As espécies mais frequentes capturadas como fauna acompanhante (by-catch) foram D. guttata e G. micrura. As taxas de captura foram calculadas tendo os maiores valores apresentados por G. micrura (6,47 indiv.lance-1). Já os menores foram estimados para Rhinoptera bonasus (0,03 a 0,07 indivíduos.lance-1). Os espécimes capturados pelos arrastos são exclusivamente neonatos e jovens. Desta forma, sugere-se cautela na exploração local, além da elaboração de medidas de manejo para a sustentabilidade dos Rajiformes na área.
