Abstract

Todo conhecimento sobre a biologia dos tucunarés introduzidos ou não nos mais diversos ambientes é importante para a compreensão da estrutura da comunidade e do seu manejo, por se tratar de uma espécie predadora muito apreciada e com valor comercial. Entretanto, as formas e os apetrechos de coleta utilizados nem sempre são eficazes para a real amostragem das populações e, assim, podem ocorrer comparações e conclusões equivocadas. O tucunaré pode ser coletado por redes de espera simples, redes do tipo arrasto, pesca com linha e anzol com iscas naturais ou artificiais, tarrafa, zagaia, arrastão, linha de mão, estiradeira (pequeno espinhel), arco e flecha e corrico. O melhor método de coleta para os tucunarés é a associação de dois tipos diferentes de aparelhos de pesca. Sugere-se o uso de tarrafas ou redes de arrasto nas margens para a coleta de juvenis e alevinos concomitantemente com a pesca de linha, usando iscas artificiais, para a captura de exemplares maiores.
