Adivinación y oráculos en el mundo andino antiguo

Abstract

En ninguna otra civilización de la historia- ni en China, Grecia, Roma o Mesoamérica-la práctica de consultar a las deidades fue tan común y difundida como en los Andes durante el Imperio Inca. Los grandes oráculos-como Pachacamac, Titicaca, Huanacauri y el mismo Coricancha-fueron meta de largas peregrinaciones y no solo tuvieron un rol central en la religiosidad y cosmovisión inca sino que constituyeron formidables instrumentos de legitimación del poder e influencia política. A lo largo de todo el Tahuantisuyu estos centros fueron, además lugares privilegiados de acopio de información, previsión de calamidades, transmisión del saber y negociación entre grupos sociales y étnicos. Adivinación y oráculos en el Mundo andino antiguo, nos muestra como el Perú prehispánico, con su miríada de pequeños y grandes centros oraculares, fue la “tierra de los oráculos” por antonomasia y como aun en la época colonial, muchos de estos santuarios continuaron desempeñando relevantes funciones político-religiosas dentro de la sociedad andina.
