El platonismo romántico de Shelley

Abstract

En El platonismo romántico de Shellry, Patricia Cruzalegui Sotelo desarrolla su estudio en cinco partes. En la primera, una introducción a lo que un crítico llamó «the nascend mind of Shelley», estudia las creencias del poeta tomando en consideración sus lecturas y su desarrollo intelectual en lo que puede considerarse el desarrollo de su primera fase ideológica. Para ello escoge el poema Queen Mab, su primera obra de importancia, no solo desde el punto de vista poética sino también intelectual, por las valiosas y extensas notas que lo acompañan. Las líneas conductoras que desarrolla Shelley en Queen Mab son confrontadas con las ideas de algunas obras de Platón. Según Patricia Cruzalegui, Shelley es un platonizante nebuloso que «sirviéndose de imágenes y símbolos platónicos, persigue objetivos neoplatónicos o, al menos, de índole más emocional y nústica que el platonismo».
