In this paper, the phenomenon of low-threshold field emission of electrons from thin films of several metals (molybdenum, nickel, tungsten, titanium, and zirconium) is experimentally studied. The ability of island metal films to emit electrons at room temperature in a field with a macroscopic intensity of the order of units V /μ is confirmed. A correlation was found between the emission properties of films and their morphology, namely, the presence of isolated metal Islands with a lateral size in the range of 20-50 nm and a few nanometers in height.
