Abstract

Ansys Electronics Desktop Student.

The object of study is a square demagnetised ferrite waveguide with various defects. These include deviations of the waveguides shape from the ideal, local metallisation violations, and non-perpendicularity of the waveguide end. In addition, the presence of inhomogeneities in ferrite is also considered. The aim of the work is to investigate how the microwave parameters of a Faraday phase shifter with various defects change. The study yielded formulas that can be employed to assess the impact of waveguide defects on the circular polarisation of a wave in a square demagnetised ferrite waveguide. Additionally, the study developed a methodology for calculating the level of crosspolarisation of a circularly polarised wave in a square waveguide. Finally, the study constructed models of a square demagnetised ferrite waveguide with different defects in the software Ansys Electronics Desktop Student. The study yielded insights into the dependence of microwave parameters of a Faraday phase shifter on various defects, as well as the excitation of higher types (3 and 4). This study represents a novel contribution to the field, as it has no confirmed analogues. The scope of the study is twofold. Firstly, the excitation of higher types must be investigated separately. Secondly, the tolerances in the manufacture of ferrite rods can be adjusted based on the findings. The Ansys Electronics Desktop Student software was utilised and validated.
