Abstract

This scientific work considers the participation of Finland in the European Union, namely the process of accession to the integration Association, the problems and obstacles that Finland has faced, the transformation of the country after joining the Union, the impact of European Union policy on Russian-Finnish relations, as well as further prospects for Finland's participation in the Union. The integration processes that took place in Europe in the 20th century are considered. The factors that initiated the integration movement, contributing to and hindering these processes, are analyzed. European countries have made great efforts to form the European Union in the form in which it exists at the moment. However, the European Union has been going through hard times in the past few years. The global financial crisis, and then the accession to anti-Russian sanctions, hit the economies of all the countries of the European Union. The leadership of some countries is dissatisfied with the policy of the leadership of the Union. These factors seriously affect the integrity and sustainability of the European Union as an integration group.
