Abstract

The object of the study is to analyze the methods of monitoring Oracle DBMS with heavy work load. The goal of this work is to develop a method of obtaining statistical information on the performance of the database instance, while minimizing the costs of processing database queries and further use of this techniques to develop a software tool for monitoring the Oracle database instance. It is proposed to use several mechanisms to obtain a performance metrics from running database instance, using data from Oracle Shared Global Memory (SGA). As a result, several methods were selected for the solution of obtaining metrics from highly loaded databases that do not create additional workload in the processing of requests for a working copy. The prototype program was created to poll the Oracle database instance by retrieving data from the shared memory segments of the SGA.
