Trasplante uterino: estado del arte*

Abstract

Introducción: las pacientes con infertilidad absoluta por factor uterino tienen como última opción para concebir un hijo biológico, el uso de madres sustitutas con la ayuda de fertilización in vitro u otras técnicas de reproducción asistida. Sin embargo, esta práctica permanece controversial en algunas sociedades y por ello desde hace más de 30 años se han conducido numerosas investigaciones sobre el trasplante uterino como posibilidad terapéutica para este tipo de pacientes. Recientemente se realizó el primer trasplante uterino en humanos con resultados favorables. El objetivo del presente artículo es realizar una revisión de la literatura actual, para describir el estado del arte del trasplante uterino, en cuanto a la técnica quirúrgica del trasplante, el embarazo en injertos animales y sus desenlaces, la historia del primer trasplante uterino en humanos, las complicaciones teóricas del trasplante, y algunas consideraciones éticas y legales a considerar sobre dicho trasplante.Metodología: se realizó una búsqueda de la literatura en diversas bases de datos, en la cual se incluyeron artículos originales de investigación básica y clínica, y revisiones de la literatura para su análisis.Resultados: existe poca información publicada con respecto al tema, sin embargo es un campo donde se realiza abundante investigación, tanto básica como clínica, para lograr finalmente la realización de un trasplante uterino seguro y eficaz para tratar la infertilidad por factor uterino, y permitir a estas pacientes la posibilidad de concebir un hijo biológico.
