La mortalidad perinatal es uno de los más eficientes indicadores del buen o mal funcionamiento de un Servicio de Maternidad; el análisis de sus cifras estadísticas a través de un juicio critico, revela generalmente la eficacia o errores en la atención materno-infantil de las pacientes atendidas en él; la razón por la cual se realiza el presente trabajo estadístico, que comprende un lapso de 10 años a partir de 1963, fecha de iniciación del Departamento de Obstetricia y Ginecología del Hospital Militar Central.
