DESIGUALDADES REGIONAIS E DEPENDÊNCIA CULTURAL NA AMAZÔNIA PARAENSE

Abstract

Este artigo aborda a temática das desigualdades regionais na Amazônia Paraense, retomando questão abordada em outro artigo há mais de dez anos atrás sobre desenvolvimento territorial e dinâmicas territoriais. Inicialmente, se resconstitui o processo histórico de ocupação da Amazônia, analisando os processos de apropriação e uso do espaço por parte dos diferentes atores e agentes econômicos e sociais. Depois se debruça em uma análise comparativa sobre as desigualdades regionais entre as 12 (doze) regiões de integração do estado do Pará a partir de indicadores de diferentes dimensões – populacional, econômica, desenvolvimento, social, ambiental. Na terceira parte do texto, a partir de distinções conceituais entre as concepçoes de região e território e de teorias sobre desenvolvimento territorial, se analisa as dinâmicas territoriais prevalecentes nas diferentes regiões paraenses. E considera que a alternativa para combater os graves desequilíbrios regionais observados depende da adoção de processos ou formas de territorialidade regional que expressem o sentido de identidade regional. Ademais, considera necessário recuperar referências de desenvolvimento endógeno a partir da obra de Celso Furtado, ressaltando o papel da Cultura, a partir de conceitos como dependência cultural e criatividade.
