Calidad de vida relacionada con la salud bucal en pacientes drogodependientes

Abstract

Introducción: la calidad de vida está estrechamente vinculada con el bienestar percibido, y la salud bucal es un factor crucial en este aspecto. La drogodependencia puede tener efectos perjudiciales sobre la salud bucal, contribuyendo a la aparición de caries, enfermedades periodontales y pérdidas dentales. Objetivo: evaluar la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud bucal en pacientes drogodependientes y su asociación con caries, enfermedad periodontal y nivel de higiene bucal. Metodología: estudio analítico transversal realizado en 84 pacientes del Centro de Rehabilitación de Adicciones Humberto Camacho. Se recopilaron datos sociodemográficos y se aplicó la encuesta OHIP-14 para evaluar la calidad de vida. Se realizó un examen clínico intraoral y se analizaron los datos utilizando el software SPSS, aplicando análisis estadísticos descriptivos y analíticos, con pruebas de U Mann-Whitney y Kruskall-Wallis. Resultados: se observó una alta prevalencia de caries y sangrado gingival, con un impacto considerable en el malestar psicológico e incapacidad social de los pacientes. El sangrado gingival se asoció significativamente con el dolor físico (p<0,05) y el malestar psicológico (p=0,031). Se hallaron diferencias significativas en el malestar psicológico (p=0,041) e incapacidad social (p=0,020) en relación con el nivel de salud bucal. Conclusiones: la salud bucal deteriorada en pacientes drogodependientes, caracterizada por caries y sangrado gingival, tiene un impacto negativo en su bienestar general, especialmente en términos de malestar psicológico e incapacidad social
