Doctrina militar y ejercicio del poder en América del Sur: el papel y el impacto de las escuelas militares peruanas y brasileñas

Abstract

Este estudio pretende analizar una institución particular: las escuelas de formación militar. Éstas se consideran como la cuna del pensamiento y doctrina militar, convirtiendose las escuelas en centros de pensamiento estratégico que para casos como los de Perú y Brasil proporcionan oficiales de alto profesionalismo. No obstante, más allá de las ciencias militares, estas escuelas incursionaron en los campos de la política, el derecho y las ciencias sociales. De forma que los egresados de estas escuelas no son simples soldados, sino que se presentaban como unos oficiales de amplio sentido crítico hacia su Estado y su sociedad. La hipótesis que en este artículo se sustenta es que este alto grado de profesionalismo militar tuvo un impacto directo en la vida política de Brasil y Perú. Los gobiernos militares de 1964 en Brasil y 1968 en Perú, se ven directamente influidos por esas generaciones de oficiales egresados de prestigiosas y exigentes escuelas militares.
