La revolución de los banqueros en la economía internacional: Un mundo sin sistema monetario

Abstract

El presente articulo contiene una vision esquem atica del sistema m onetario in ternacional de la postguerra y sus caracteristicas principales, y pone de relieve los aspectos que posteriorm ente generaron dificultades. Muestra el desarrollo de dicho sistema y los acontecim ientos que llevaron a la crisis m onetaria internacional a com ienzos del decenio de 1970. Describe los arregs cam biarlos que surgieron com o consecencia de la crisis; analiza las condiciones bajo las cuales tales arreglos son eficientes, asi como la posibilidad de los paises en desarrollo de utilizarlos, y sus efectos sobre dichos paises y sobre la dem anda de liquidez internacional de los sectores publico y privado. Con relacion a este ultim o aspecto destaca el increm ento de las tareas de intervencion del sector privado en los m ercados cambiarlos y la influencia de tal increm ento en la generacion y transm ision internacional de desequilibrios. Pasa revista luego a los in ten tos de reform ar el sistema m onetario y a los acuerdos adoptados para m odificar el Convenio C onstitutivo del Fondo Monetario Internacional y sus efectos sobre los paises en desarrollo.
