EnglishThis article examines which events in a woman’s reproductive and married life shape her trajectory after the dissolution of a first marriage. The analysis combines two methodological strategies that have a life-cycle approach. The first describes events that occurred after the first marital break-up, using the sequential analysis technique to identify types of life trajectory. The second uses multivariate model estimates to detect factors associated with types of life trajectory and to establish which trajectory leads to a higher fertility rate. The research led to the identification of three different types of trajectory and reveals that the factors associated with each one are related to educational attainment, birth cohort and when the women form a family. Trajectories that include more than one romantic relationship and children of different unions are those that have the highest fertility rates.
