Consideraciones sobre la desigualdad de oportunidades: Nueva evidencia

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar los efectos de un conjunto de variables en la desigualdad de oportunidades en el Brasil. Para ello se utilizo el metodo desarrollado por Li, Chen y Gao (2011). Se combinaron datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Hogares (PNAD) y Finanzas de Brasil (Finbra) sobre los estados brasilenos relativos al periodo comprendido entre 1995 y 2012. Los resultados indican que en los ultimos anos, el crecimiento economico ha perdido terreno en ese debate con respecto a los demas condicionantes. El patron actual de los gastos en educacion contribuye al mantenimiento de una situacion de vulnerabilidad social que impide la plena integracion de los individuos en la sociedad. Por otra parte, el aumento de la educacion formal y de la formalizacion permitio una reduccion de la desigualdad de oportunidades.
