Celem artykułu jest wstępne zdefiniowanie pojęcia „sztuki roślin” na podstawie analizy Instytutu dla Żywych Rzeczy Diany Lelonek, który uważam za sztandarową pracę w tym nurcie. Posiłkując się współczesną antropologią środowiska i kultury oraz teoriami nowego materializmu, rozważam koncepcję sprawczości roślin w projekcie Lelonek, wskazuję na jej wpływ na materialne i społeczne trajektorie życia roślin we współczesnych środowiskach, a także zastanawiam się nad statusem wiedzy wytwarzanej w ramach pracy artystki. Definiując Instytut… jako społeczne urządzenie czy też asamblaż, staram się wykazać, jak rozmaici aktanci związują się i współdziałają ze sobą w obrębie sztuki roślin, generując potencjał przemian w obszarze praktyk naukowych i artystycznych.

Drawing on environmental and cultural anthropology as well as new materialism, Wandzel examines the notion of plant agency in Lelonek’s project, demonstrating its impact on material and social trajectories of plants in contemporary environments, and thinking about the status of the knowledge gained through the artist’s work. Defining Center for the Living Things as a social tool or assemblage, Wandzel demonstrates how various actors are linked together and collaborate in the domain of plant art, generating a potential for change in both academic and artistic practices.
